About Us

A Pensacola native and USMC veteran family, Doug and Dawn Hart have always had a deep love for the peace and serenity that comes with being out on the Pensacola waters. They raised their kids to love being on the water at Pensacola Beach and the locally famous Sand Island. Now, with four beautiful grandkids, they want to create that same love of Pensacola and the waters for them and a family legacy that can be passed down through generations. An opportunity arose, and Sand Island Boat Rentals was launched to help locals and visitors to Pensacola Beach enjoy our beautiful waters.

Fort McRee (Sand Island)

Fort McRee is situated on a barrier island near Pensacola, Florida, and its unique position makes it accessible primarily by water. This method of reaching the fort offers a scenic and enjoyable journey, allowing visitors to appreciate the beauty of the surrounding waters and coastline. Boating to Fort McRee is a popular choice among tourists and locals alike, who are drawn to the area for its historical significance and natural beauty.

The Blue Angels

Watching the Blue Angels practice over the waters near Pensacola by boat is an exhilarating experience that offers a unique perspective on the precision and skill of the United States Navy's flight demonstration squadron. Observing these practices from the water allows spectators to enjoy an unobstructed view of the aerobatics without the crowds typically found on land. The Blue Angels perform their high-flying maneuvers over Naval Air Station Pensacola. During their practice sessions, the skies above the station and its surrounding waters come alive with their signature formations and high-speed passes.

Boaters looking to catch a glimpse of the action should be mindful of safety and local regulations. It's important to keep a safe distance from the practice area to ensure both your safety and that of the pilots. The Navy sets specific zones that are off-limits to civilian boats during these practices to prevent accidents and ensure the security of the team. Therefore, it's crucial to stay informed about these zones and any temporary restrictions that might be in place.

Fort Pickens

Situated on the western end of Santa Rosa Island in Florida, Fort Pickens is part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore and offers a unique blend of natural beauty and historical significance. Boating to Fort Pickens is a popular choice for visitors seeking a more scenic and adventurous route. There are public and private boat launches in the Pensacola area that provide access to the waters surrounding the fort. Additionally, some companies offer charter services or water taxis specifically designed for tourists wishing to visit Fort Pickens and other parts of the national seashore by water.

Exploring Fort Pickens by boat offers a unique perspective of the area's natural beauty, from its pristine beaches to its diverse marine life. It also allows for a direct approach to experiencing the historical fort, which played a significant role in American history, particularly during the Civil War. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a nature lover, or simply looking for an adventurous day out, reaching Fort Pickens by boat can be an enriching experience.

Dolphins

Embarking on a boat tour in Pensacola, Florida, offers a unique opportunity to witness the richness of marine life thriving in its waters. The Gulf of Mexico and the bays surrounding Pensacola are teeming with various species, making every boat trip an adventure into the aquatic world.

Dolphins are among the most exciting marine animals you can expect to see. These playful creatures are a common sight, often seen swimming alongside boats or leaping out of the water in groups. Watching dolphins in their natural habitat is an experience that captivates both the young and the old. In addition to dolphins, sea turtles are another highlight of Pensacola's marine life. These ancient mariners, gliding gracefully through the water, can sometimes be spotted from the boat, especially during the warmer months when they come closer to shore.
